Summer

Depending on your desires, our summers offer an endless array of possibilities. From just plain relaxing, to working cattle on horseback, we are always up to
something! And if you're really lucky, you can help put up the hay off the meadows!
The Ranch is a beautiful Alpine setting, with well over 200 acres of hay meadows and natural habitat feeding grounds. We have numerous waterways and ponds that not only add to the natural beauty, but also supports upland game birds and waterfowl. Routt National Forest is right out the back door. Since, the forest doesn't allow motorized vehicles, we offer our horses for your use if desired.
We are family owned and operated and have the flexibility to make your time here completely personalized.

Team Roping, nightly during the summer months

Snow Birds, Reversed! Get out of the heat and come to the high mountains and enjoy your sport! Our 250’ x 150’ arena has a Prifert chute, with good boxes. We aren’t fancy, but the footing is excellent for your horses, with a 6” coarse sand base. With fresh cattle every spring, cool days and chilly evenings the roping is always a “cool deal”. Add the beautiful scenery of the head quarters of the ranch, and you have a perfect combination for the team ropers dream come true. Stay at one of our lodges, or bring your outfit and stay at our primitive camp site, the old Purrington homestead. Turn outs and pens available.

Horsemanship, and Roping Schooling

Our daily ranch work revolves around use of horses. We realize the foundation of any equestrian experience is being comfortable with the situation your in. We work with each guest, matching the activity with their personal experience level.

For those staying for a few days, we encourage you to let us spend time with you, for you to gain horsemanship skills you can take with you when you leave!
At the ranch, we also take that a step further, and enjoy the arena sports of calf roping, team roping and break away roping.
