March 10th, 2008
March came in with a vengeance, so it’s gonna leave like a lamb, right? The mountains are getting a real winter this year, but so has the rest of the country. This will give everyone stories to tell their grand kid, “I remember the winter of 2007……….”
The paper reports that we’re over 436” so far this winter.
The sun has been shinning bright the last few days, so everyone is in better spirits.
With the time change yesterday, Joey and I went to play on the snow machines yesterday afternoon. We got home from a 4H meeting about 3 PM with lots of sun, so what the heck. We haven’t play yet this winter. I followed one of his tracks, and really buried the dang thing. When he finally came looking for me, I was ready to be rescued! He had launched the machine over a good 15 foot cliff. I didn’t have near enough speed, and sank like a rock in the soft snow at the bottom! By the time I saw what was coming it was too late….. Were going to go dig it out tonight when he gets home from school. Didn’t have a shovel with us yesterday, and it was getting chore time any way.
Melissa’s going to help me trail the cows to another pasture down in Wiggins on Wednesday. Joey missed two days of school last week while we were up in Wyoming looking at some ranches. The school gets up tight when he misses too much. Doesn’t matter that he has all A’s and is bored to death. That’s another subject for another time. Between Melissa, myself and two dogs, we should be able to keep the cows off the interstate, I hope! We only have to move them 6 or 7 miles. The hard part is getting them to cross onto the road, because they are used to an electric fence being up. Still planning on bringing them home to calve the first part of April.
Talk to ya latter,
matt
